1832 - First proposal of railway in India ( Madras )

Between 1835 - 1836 - Madras to Chintadripet experimental railway line.( Red hills rail road )

1837 - First operational rail transporting granite stone.

1838 - First Locomotive built in India, design rotary engine

1840 - Proposals to built railways in Calcutta and bombay.

1844 - Report of Mc Donalads stepenson ( About : Introduction and advantages of railway )

1845 - Rajmundary railway -  Transportation of materials stones etc.

1845 - Formation of Madras and East India railway company is formed.

1848 - Lord Dalhousie ( Father of Indian Railway )

1849 -  Great Indian Peninsular Railway Incorporately by an act of Parliament  " Old Guarantee system "

1851 - Construction begins in the Calcutta to Delhi Link

1852 -  Bombay to Thane  (35 km ) railway line in held



1853 -  First passenger train leaves, From Bombay to Thane
